Bicycle Tours is an independent website about bike touring, bikepacking, route preparation and touring gear. We publish guides for riders planning day trips, multi-day bike tours and bikepacking trips, with a focus on planning bike trips: choosing a style and bike, researching routes, packing, logistics and safety on tour.
Who we are
Bicycle Tours launched in its current form in 2026 and is run by a small, independent editorial team. We are an online-only publication. We are not owned by, and do not work on behalf of, any manufacturer, brand or retailer, and no company reviews or approves our guides before they are published.
Websites that used the domain name bicycletours.us in earlier years were run by other people and are not connected to the current site or its content.
What we cover
Our guides are organized into these sections: Bike Touring Basics, Routes and Destinations, Touring Gear, Travel Logistics and Safety and Maintenance. Each guide explains what matters for a given situation, which trade-offs to expect and where its advice stops.
How we research
Our content is written by the Bicycle Tours editorial team. We base our guides on official route and land-management sources such as the National Park Service, state departments of transportation and Adventure Cycling Association route information, the National Weather Service, NHTSA bicycle safety guidance and manufacturer manuals, and we link to the source when a guide states a figure or a safety point.
We are clear about the limits of our work. Unless an article explicitly describes our own use of a product, our guides are research-based and are not hands-on product tests. We do not invent test results, ratings or statistics. Read our Editorial Policy and How We Review for details.
Safety and scope
Road, trail, weather and service conditions change. We do not describe current route conditions as fact; check official sources and recent conditions before every trip. Our first aid and emergency planning content does not replace training or emergency services.
How we are funded
